We are women who for all of our lives were told we were "Bougie." When giving our particular preferences, we were told "that is too much" or "too expensive" or too...fill in the blank. The whole time, we were being told that our standards, thoughts, and/or actions were "wrong" just because they were higher than what others expected. After many years of being negatively labeled "Bougie" and just laughing it off; we had enough. Really, what's wrong with having high standards, wanting more out of life, or striving for excellence? Nothing!!! So, we have made it our mission to erase the negative connotation of "Bougie” and turn into a word that celebrates living your life exactly how you see fit unapologetically.
